 | | | | Who is Gelberg? | In the early 1920s Anna Gelberg sold her passementeries to Seventh Avenue fashion houses. With her earnings, she bought second hand braiding machines and began making custom trimmings for her clients.
In 70 years, Gelberg has seen and been a part of the evolution of the fashion business – its growth, recession and revitalization. Then the Home Furnishings boom piqued the interest of the Gelberg owner Richard Lansey. Mr. Lansey explains: "We've always catered to the big houses on Seventh Ave., Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein and Donna Karan; now that these designers have expanded their businesses into the home area, it's natural we follow suit as our product translates into home fashion." Lansey continues: "We love to develop new items and designers use us as an option to sourcing in Europe, surprised to find such attention to detail in their own back yard and because were domestic, our delivery is great too. Our factory is one of the last of its kind. We like it that way." |
